With its rich natural beauty and a fascinating history, Flat Holm is the ideal place to find inspiration for your creative writing. This course is suitable for complete beginners and those with some writing experience.
It is an opportunity to explore Flat Holm’s rich history and landscape while developing your own writing practice.
Throughout your stay, you will be encouraged to keep a journal to document in poetry and prose your own unique experience of staying on Flat Holm.
The course is structured to allow time for quiet contemplation, open, supportive facilitation and coming together to share stories and the writing journey. You will be encouraged to bring a mindful approach to your writing, using all your senses as you explore the island.
Using free-writing to encourage creative flow, there will also be the opportunity to practice writing in more structured forms such as Haiku – a perfect way to capture snapshots and key moments of your island experience.
Everyone will have the opportunity to contribute work from the weekend to be collated in a booklet that will be available online.
