Buds to bloom on the Barrage

Work has finished on two new flowerbeds on Cardiff Bay Barrage. The floral plots, situated near the children’s play area and along the Bay Edge Walkway, were created by Cardiff Council’s Parks team.

They feature a combination of native and non-native species that will attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators, and grace the Barrage with a lengthy flowering period. The annual, perennial and biennial mix will develop and change over time, without the requirement for replanting every year, making the beds more sustainable.

The seeds for the plots were funded by the Cardiff Local Nature Partnership and Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature scheme.
