Cardiff Bay Barrage skate plaza will play host to the Urdd Urban Games’ street skateboarding event on Saturday 17 June (registration opens at 9am, with warm-ups at 10am).
Featuring steps, rails and ramps within a 1,100 square metre mixed surface area, the Barrage skate park is the ideal location for skaters of all abilities to showcase their skills. Competitors will battle it out in various categories, including under 12s, 12-16s and any age.
The skate park will be closed to the public for the event, however skaters are invited to register to take part in the competition. Registration costs £5 and can be completed online: https://www.cognitoforms.com/UrddGobaithCymru/GemauStrydParcSglefrioUrddUrbanGamesSkatepark2023
There will also be a ‘come and try’ area near the skate park for newcomers to enjoy a skateboarding session with a qualified instructor.
Please note that this event is scheduled for Saturday 17 June, however if it cannot go ahead due to bad weather conditions, it will take place on Sunday 18 June instead.
The skateboarding contest is part of a series of freesport competitions, such as BMX, scooter and 3×3 basketball, being held in the Bay from Saturday 17 – Sunday 18 June as part of the Urban Games. For more information, visit gemaustryd.urdd.cymru/.
