5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Photography is one of the most fascinating and rewarding art form and Flat Holm is a photographer’s paradise. The island has everything to develop your photography skills. Wildlife, Nature, History, Architecture, Seascapes, Landscapes, and that key element, something completely different. With wide open panoramas the skies, sunsets and sunrises can also be spectacular.

The ability to create an image is available to everyone, of any ability and any age, just by pressing a button or touching a screen. The key to good photography is all about using light and being able to use settings and features on your camera to get the best from the light available.

This course will help you use a range of different camera settings and features to get the best out of your photography. Using camera modes such as Programme, Aperture and Shutter will take your photography to new levels. Also using settings such as White Balance, Focus Points, Exposure and ISO will help you improve your photography and camera skills.

As well as learning camera skills the course will include how to use light effectively and how to compose your subjects to turn an ordinary image into something special.

The course content is a mixture of practical and theory and completing practical projects based around the island.

The course is designed for beginners who want to learn about photography or for those with more experience who want to improve their photography skills and knowledge.

Any digital camera – compact or DSLR – is suitable for the course. Though we will cover the use of mobile phone cameras you will require a dedicated camera with adjustable settings.

Our prices include:

  • Boat transport, provided by Bay Island Voyages: Homepage – Bay Island Voyages.
  • Accommodation
  • Tuition/activities run by experienced tutors or our island staff.

Any surplus income goes back into the upkeep of the island’s natural and built heritage.
