South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) will be holding a water safety event on Cardiff Bay Barrage to mark World Drowning Prevention Day on Tuesday 25 July.

Taking place from 1.30pm-5pm near the children’s play area, the free event to highlight water safety awareness will feature SWFRS, South Wales Police, the Coastguard and RNLI.

The public can also watch boat demonstrations showing rescues on the water at 2.45pm and 3.45pm.

Drowning has caused over 2.5 million deaths over the last decade. The aim of World Drowning Prevention Day is to emphasise that this is a public health issue – anyone can drown, but no one should.
