10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Have you ever wanted to experience living and working on an island? Now is your chance!

Whether you are looking to gain experience for a career in nature conservation or simply wanting a holiday with a difference where you can “give something back” this is a unique opportunity to:

  • Meet new people and make new friends
  • Learn new skills
  • Experience island life
  • Make a difference

During this four night stay you will get to live and work on Flat Holm Island – a jewel in the Bristol Channel, steeped in history and rich in wildlife as featured on BBC’s Countryfile show. Working alongside our island warden team you will get to:

  • Carry out vital nature conservation tasks such as scrub clearance or grassland management to help our nesting gulls
  • Contribute to wildlife surveys like our regular slow-worm count
  • Help restore and maintain heritage buildings
  • Assist with our visitor tours

You can expect to work as a team for around 5 – 6 hours each day but there’ll be plenty of time for relaxing and enjoying the island under your own steam.

In addition, you will have island experiences that day visitors do not get – sit out under the stars, see the lights of the Bristol Channel cities and ships at night, experience panoramic views of the island’s fantastic sunsets while you sit round the campfire…and for the “early birds” the sunrises can be amazing!

Follow in the footsteps of St Cadoc and recharge your batteries with a few days of a simpler lifestyle in the natural retreat of the island.
