First phase of lifting navigation restrictions announced

From Monday 1 June at 00:01, recreational boat owners will be permitted to use their boats within Cardiff Bay for leisure purposes, as part of their daily exercise and recreation, but not for overnight accommodation.

Boat skippers may be accompanied by people from their household, or, if their vessel is sufficient in size to maintain social distancing, with people from a different household, subject to the current Welsh Government regulations.

Cardiff Harbour Authority (CHA) locks will remain closed until the necessary resources and adjustments to procedures are in place to accommodate the anticipated high demand for locking. CHA visitor facilities for boats (pontoon systems and slipways) are also still closed.

For further important information and advice, please see the Local Notice to Mariners No.08 of 2020.

Thanks for your co-operation.
