Cardiff’s reputation
as a top UK visitor destination continues to be enhanced by water
sports and sailing enthusiasts from across the globe discovering its
200 hectare freshwater lake, Cardiff Bay.
Cardiff has undergone dramatic development over the past decade,
including the world-class Wales Millennium Centre and Millennium
Stadium hosting high-profile cultural and sporting events. However,
it is the construction of the Cardiff Bay Barrage, creating the
fantastic waterfront and freshwater Bay that has really captured the
imagination of visitors. With 24 hour access through the Barrage
to/from the Bristol Channel for your own vessel, the waterfront
Capital of Wales welcomes you!
Adventure Cardiff, with centres in Cardiff Bay and at Llanishen
Sailing Centre, has earned a strong reputation in water sports
excellence, delivering world class events alongside community and
educational water based courses. Professionals and amateurs alike
are welcomed by qualified, experienced instructors who design a wide
range of activities and expeditions to meet specific needs, at these
centres certified by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS),
Welsh Amateur Rowing Association (WARA) and recognised by the Welsh
Canoe Association (WCA).
Also on the edges of Cardiff Bay is the International Sports
Village. This development is providing a range of other facilities
including a new ice rink and the new international swimming pool.
This will be followed by an olympic-standard Canoe Slalom Facility,
offering further opportunities to feel the thrill of water sports in
Cardiff.
With two established yacht clubs and a wide variety of amenities and
things to do, Cardiff Bay offers opportunities for individuals,
groups and schools, against the beautiful backdrop that is Cardiff
Bay! |
