Welcome to Cardiff Bay!

Cardiff, the Capital of Wales is one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations. It’s known for its cultural, sporting, artistic and maritime traditions and we are delighted that more and more people are discovering our city and its waterfront.

Cardiff Bay, the Barrage, Inner and Outer Harbours and parts of the Rivers Taff and Ely are all successfully managed by Cardiff Harbour Authority as part of Cardiff Council. The 200 hectare freshwater lake was created in 2001 and continues to develop and thrive, with a series of future projects ongoing. For further information on Harbour Authority projects - Click here

On a daily basis the Harbour Authority is responsible for the Barrage operations, the waterways and environmental monitoring, all of which are detailed in this website. The area attracts boat users, with two well established yacht clubs, two marinas and several commercial marine-related businesses. There are over 1000 resident vessels moored in the Bay and this figure is rising year on year.

We also manage a variety of venues within the Bay:-

Adventure Cardiff, with water activity centres in the Bay and Llanishen - Click here

The Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre, known locally as the Tube - Click here

The Norwegian Church Arts Centre - Click here; and also have responsibility for Flat Holm Island - Click here.

From Easter onwards the
Harbour Authority delivers an exciting calendar of local, national and international water and land based events for visitors and residents of Cardiff to enjoy - Click here

Along with fantastic restaurants and bars in the Inner Harbour, and the Barrage offering great walks and fantastic views of the Bay, there has never been a better time to visit
Cardiff Bay.
