  International Sports Village

Work is now nearly complete on the development of the Cardiff International Sports Village. Cardiff Council has taken the lead by spearheading what is widely recognised as one of the most exciting sport, leisure and entertainment projects in the UK.

The International Sports Village includes an international 50 metre swimming pool, leisure pools, health and fitness facilities, an olympic standard canoe slalom centre (ciww), and proposals for a 4,000 seat multi-purpose arena, top class hotels, as well as a multi-purpose entertainment complex and a variety of waterfront bars, and restaurants.

As a city, Cardiff also recognises the importance of developing a sustainable and integrated transport system. The development of a Bay Edge Walkway around the 13km waterfront is being progressed by the Harbour Authority in conjunction with developers and other land owners.

A new bridge 'Pont y Werin' opened this year that makes it possible for pedestrians and cyclists to commute between Penarth and Cardiff Bay

The Harbour Authority is also working in partnership with many commercial operators to develop and promote water transport service around the Bay and the rivers Taff and Ely.
